Good location to retire to around Wexford or east coast area?

Hi all, many apologies if much of what I am asking is already answered across other threads! I need advice ..
After leaving Dublin many years ago to seek my fortune, I am now moving back. It won\'t be Dublin as I would need to be a millionaire but probably to Wexford or East Coast area as I will still be doing business in the UK and so will be using the Rosslare ferry every month.
My wife and I are now of a retiring age and we would like to buy a detached property. I have looked at a million places that seem great but nothing better than chatting with people who actually know the area well.
We are after a place that is near enough to a town, village to walk to so that we don\'t feel too isolated, is near a bus route as my wife will need to get about when I am away, is reasonably safe and not crime ridden, good broadband.
Once I have a good idea of what area to look at I can then decide on the house.
So, its location, location as they say.
I am selling up in Norwich UK and will be buying somewhere up to around 275k. A place with character and some land would be great, everywhere I look seems to be a modern concrete affair surrounded by gravel.
Thanks, Liam
