Best method of paying rent as an American

Hello,

I\'m an American who will be moving over in early August to study at UCD Smurfit for my masters. I\'ve realized that it will be a lot cheaper to live off-campus, but I\'m wondering how I would go about paying rent? My apologies if the answer to this is actually really simple!!

I was planning on continuing to use my American bank account for the year that I am abroad, rather than opening an Irish bank account, but would I just be able to wire my rent money to whoever is collecting the rent each month? I\'m assuming I couldn\'t just write a check from my US account, but I also want to avoid exorbitant fees that may be incurred during a transfer...?

Or would it be better to open up an Irish bank account and transfer the money in my American account to that one?

Or would it be better to just withdraw the cash each month and pay that way?

Thank you in advance for your advice!
