Moving to Dublin, is Stoneybatter okay?

Yes, it's ok. I've rented out property in the area and, as a female, found it fine, as long as you take the usual precautions. It is close to the city centre, the Luas is nearby, and grocery shopping in the area is pretty good. However, it is a very mixed area, with good and bad cheek by jowl, so normal precautions should be taken when out and about at night. Would I live there - well yes, if I worked in the city - it's so handy. There are grocery shops on Manor Street/Stoneybatter, and you are so close to the Phoenix Park on the other side. Also Heuston Station is near enough for you to probably walk to, so you can take train trips across the country if you want!
