Best place to live & work in Dublin - without car

Hello
I am a young French woman and I will come to Dublin in September with my boyfriend.
I will be working near Baldoyle, Dublin 13, and my boyfriend will have to find a job once we will be in Ireland.
The point is that we will not come with our cars, so we will depend on public transports or we will walk!
We have to find an apartment and we wonder which place is the best? We would like to find one in Dublin 13, so that I will not be far from the place where I will work, but will my boyfriend find easily a job in this area?
We have also thought of living nearer the city center, but the cost of transport (DART, bus,...) would maybe be too expensive for me to go to Baldoyle every day. But it could be easier for my boyfriend to find a job?!
Please any advice would be welcome !
Thank you
