Renting for 1 month - where do I start?

As an American who has always stayed in hotels while visiting ire, I'm not sure where to start to find a 1-month rental in August as a test-drive for moving to ireland. Need 3 bedrooms, high-speed internet, want to be WALKING distance to a shop and pub, hope to be near the water and NOT in the countryside.... directly in a village with train or bus.... I like Dun Laoghaire and Howth. Should I hire a real-estate agent if my rental is only 1 month before I decide on the move?
