Damp and health problems

By ann02 at 15:08, Wed June 27 2012, in Tenant Rights - 2 responses

Hi there. I recently moved into a house. I have been having problems with the smell of mould in the kitchen cupboards and utility room. The smell actually catches my breath. I have since being in this house had to have two lots of steroids from my GP who asked if my house had a lot of dust etc as my chest is extremely wheezy and sounded congested.
Although there is no visible signs of mould growth the awful smell is always there and so thick and heavy.
My landlord says that he can't smell it and says he wouldn't anyway as he as no sense of small. He just told me to wash the cupboards out.
My chest and health is getting worse I'm on more steroids and feel trapped as I have only lived here since April 2012 and will lose my deposit if I move out and I can't afford another deposit now.
I just can't get rid of this stuff or smell.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated .
Thanks.
