Can unregistered landlord take my deposit?

By John Doe3 at 13:12, Wed February 27 2013, in Tenant Rights - 3 responses

I have been asked to move out by my landlord because he wanted to move in a family instead, he has only given me 2 weeks notice.

He is not a registered landlord and i did not sign any agreement with him, there was damage to one door which was fixed by a professional and damage to a wall which was fixed by myself,

the landlord has now said i am not getting my deposit back, is he within his rights to do so, given that everything is fixed and house is as it was when i moved in?
