We’ve all seen them, just about everywhere you go in Galway City and suburbs, the easily recognizable red and green “For Sale” signs of John Quinn & Co., St. Augustine St., Galway, in fact on almost every main thoroughfare in the city the name “John Quinn” seems to be there outside a house, or apartment, shop, or site. If you travel from the Claddagh to Henry St to St. Mary’s Rd, and onto the Newcastle Road, it’s nothing but John Quinn, for sale or for auction signs. So who is John Quinn and how has this man captured the public’s imagination, not least that of so many property owners in and around Galway City and County? On a visit to his lovely, bright, spacious offices at St. Augustine Street you are immediately struck by the genuine warmth of welcome you receive. You can then browse around the many stands and display areas totally relaxed with no pressure. John Quinn is very proud of his staff, “three wonderful girls” he says, “Mary, Kristin and Colette – without which our success to date would not have been possible. They are very enthusiastic and more than helpful and obviously enjoy their work. I have tried to create an atmosphere within our office which is unique for Estate Agents – and by having a happy staff, this is transmitted to customers and clients who feel totally at ease, reassured, not intimidated in any way – this has been crucial to our success and my staff must take a lot of credit for this.” John Quinn himself is a confirmed “workaholic” who loves to start work bright and early most mornings, (their offices open at 9:00am everyday and on Saturday) and between showing houses, valuations, meetings, etc. rarely if ever finishes by leaving the office shortly before midnight any night and sometimes later! John is so dedicated and committed to his work that clients will tell you, he never stops working and his capacity to cope with pressure and hard work is quite amazing. He believes that the role of an Estate Agent has changed over the years, naturally he says, “the primary objective is to sell, and sell well, but in doing so, the need ad concerns of both seller and buyer must be dealt with in a considerate manner.” Herein lies the apparent popularity of John Quinn & Co. he continues, “essentially this business is about people, it’s all about people… Being able to achieve the results people want in both selling and buying its about putting every ounce of effort and drive into every sale whether it be for €50,000 or €1M….” People in Galway have remarked on their slogan “The Estate Agents who put you first” Well, it’s true, John Quinn & Co. really do.
