Daft.ie Property Search Layar
Layar, the augmented reality browser, recently launched worldwide on both the iPhone and in the Android marketplace. This launch included Ireland's first property search layer, powered by the listings on Daft.ie.
How does the layer work?
The Daft.ie Property Search layer allows you to view sale, rental or shared property near to your current location.
As you pan your phone around you, nearby property is indicated by blue dots on the screen. The bigger the dot, the nearer the property!
The dot nearest the centre of the screen will also show you an image of the property, and brief summary information, including:
- Property address
- Rent/price of the property
- Property type summary, e.g. "2 bed apartment"
If you're tired of your daily commute, you can fire up the Daft layer while you're in work, tell it that you want to live within 5km of the building and you will see all of the properties available nearby!
Once you see a property you're interested in, pressing the image on-screen will present you with a series of options:
- View More Information - get more information on the current property (description, additional photos)
- Phone Advertiser - with one press of a button, you can use your phone to directly contact the advertiser
- Take me there - get directions to the property, powered by Google Maps
How do I get the Daft Layar?
First you will need to install the Layar application on your phone. For iPhones, it is available from the App Store. For android-based phones, it is available worldwide on the Android Market.
Once you have installed Layar, press "Search" and look for "property". Then click on the Daft logo and you'll be able to see Daft listings overlaid on your view of the streets around you!
Can I see a demo?
We have a video walk-through of the aplication in use on an iPhone over on the Daft blog
