Daft.ie experiences unprecedented traffic for August 2005
Daft.ie delivered a total of 24 million pages of properties during the 1 million visits that were made to the site in August 2005. The surge in traffic was particularly noticeable in the first-time-buyer and foreign investment property sections.
Commenting on the figures, Brian Fallon, Director, Daft.ie said "The recent availability of 100% mortgages and low interest rates means that it is easier than ever to jump onto the first rung. This, coupled with the prevalence of the ‘rent is dead money' idea, means that our first-time-buyer traffic is likely to soar even higher"
Daft.ie caters specifically to those making the move from renting with a dedicated first-time-buyer section where visitors can search specifically for properties under the first-time-buyer stamp-duty threshold of €317,500. Visitors can also view the price of a property in terms of monthly repayments making it easier to compare buying a property with renting a property in terms of quality, location and affordability of the property.
Commenting further on the figures, Fallon said, "On the investor side of things, we have also seen a huge surge in the number of people looking at our foreign property section which now boasts over 14,000 properties from around the globe. The most likely reason for this is that the continuing rise in house prices far exceeds the growth in rents and therefore rental yields are falling. People are instead looking at emerging markets so that they can invest at the start of a potential boom"
Since its inception, traffic to Daft.ie has more than doubled every year. 2005 has been no exception.
