Daft.ie Launches International Property Service

Dublin, Tuesday 5th April 2005 Daft.ie, Ireland's biggest property website, today at Smurfit School of Business, UCD launched the first online service aimed at Irish investors interested in European and North American properties. The service uses the award-winning Daft property search engine to provide access to over 16,000 properties in over 15 countries.

Initially the service will offer properties for sale in France, Spain, Portugal, UK, Italy, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Turkey, USA and the Caribbean. Over the next few months Daft will expand the service to include the rest of Europe as well as other investment hotspots such as South Africa and Dubai.

Commenting at the launch at Smurfit School UCD, Eamonn Fallon, Co-founder, Daft.ie said "Irish people have an insatiable demand for property and as prices in Ireland increase, we are looking to foreign markets to make better returns on our property investments. Daft.ie is simply bringing together hundreds of foreign property sellers into one place, so investors can find what they want quickly and easily. With over 16,000 properties to choose from, we have properties to suit every type of investor from the €50,000 investor to the €5 million investor".

Commenting at the launch, Jerry Liston, Executive Chairman, Smurfit School UCD said: "Smurfit School students are Daft's prime target market as they are young professionals who will soon be in a position to invest in the property market both in Ireland and abroad. This makes Smurfit School an ideal location to announce their expansion. The large number of international students at Smurfit School will also facilitate Daft's expansion by word of mouth."

As an add-on service, Daft.ie offers low-cost rental advertising to Irish foreign property investors. This will allow Irish property investors get higher rental yields, by renting their foreign property to Irish holiday-makers, who will pay a higher weekly rate than the local population.
