Daft has busiest day ever in its 8 year history

Once again Daft has started off the new year with a bang! Tuesday, January 4, 2005, was the busiest day ever in the 8 year history of Daft. "We delivered a phenomenal 500,000 pages of properties to 16,000 people in just one day.", said Ciarán Maher, Daft.ie Technical Director. "Extrapolated over the month, we have approximately tripled in size compared to this time last year. We have seen a huge surge in the number of first-time buyers. We have also seen a huge increase in the number of renters, which might indicate a revival of the letting market"

According to Maher, due to heavy investment in software and hardware infrastructure during the year, the website was well able to handle the load and there was no noticeable slow-down for the Daft users. "Daft has developed a proprietary software system which gives us an 8-10 times speed advantage over other websites similar in size to us" said Maher. "We will continue to tweak and invest in our infrastructure, in order to ensure our customers get their properties let and sold quickly and easily to Ireland's biggest property audience".
