Daft.ie Launches Revolutionary Property Maps for Broadband

Daft.ie, Ireland Biggest Website (ABC Certified), has launched a new mapping service allowing broadband users to find houses for sale in Ireland. Visitors to the site can drag a map of Ireland around the screen, zoom in to any town and see the property for sale on a particular street. At present, all the major urban centres are mapped with a total of 17,000 homes listed.

Commenting on the new service, Brian Fallon, Director, Daft.ie said "Our goal is to get every single property for sale in Ireland onto this map. We've been working hard for this launch and we now have 50% more homes listed than our nearest competitor. Many of these homes have never been advertised online before so finding a bargain has just become that bit easier"

The service pulls in geographic data from An Post and ties it into Google's mapping service to display each house for sale as a small blue icon on the map. When a visitor clicks on a house, the price, the number of bedrooms and a small photo appear beside it. House price data for particular streets and neighbourhoods will be added shortly so that the price of each house can referenced to recent sales

Commenting further, Brian Fallon added "In May 2006, Daft.ie was certified by the Audit Bureau of Circulation as the busiest website in the country ahead of other well know sites such as RTE.ie and Eircom.net. We're number one because we're constantly adding innovative new features such as this. We have invested heavily in R&D over the last two years and are now beginning to see the results of this effort. Broadband maps is just the first in a series of innovations that we will be launching over the comming year."
