Polar Explorer Joins Forces With Property Website

Dublin, Tuesday November 3rd 2009 - Daft Media Group, owner of Ireland's largest property website, has today announced that it has expanded its business into Northern Ireland with the launch of Daft.com. The company has joined forces with blind explorer and entrepreneur Mark Pollock, who recently returned from the South Pole. Mark will spearhead the expansion of the successful property search website into Northern Ireland.

Earlier this year Mark Pollock completed a 1,000 kilometer quest to race to the South Pole and now he is taking on a new challenge. This time he is swapping the polar wind suit for a business suit as he launches Daft.com in Northern Ireland.

Mark said: "After returning from the South Pole I needed a new challenge. Daft.com is a property business investing in the Northern Ireland market at a time when others are hesitating. With challenging economic times upon us, keeping costs to a minimum is important for all businesses, especially those in the property sector and Daft.com offers a great online solution to agents and individuals who want to market their properties. I'm very confident of Daft's success in this market."

Commenting on the partnership, David Garland, Sales Director Daft Media Group said "Over the past 10 years the Daft Media brand has built a huge online presence in Ireland, and attracts millions of people to our network of websites every month. We have worked with Mark on several projects in the past and for us he was a natural choice. His personal and business achievements are exactly what Daft Media strives to achieve and we're delighted to have him on board to champion our brand in Northern Ireland."

The Daft Media Group was ranked number one in this year's Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards and boasts 1.2 million unique visitors to Daft.ie each month. The Northern Ireland division currently employs six people and they expect the team to double in size over the next two years. Daft.com started signing up estate agents in September and already lists more than 20 per cent of properties currently available for sale or rent in Northern Ireland. With over ten years experience in online property websites, and the success of Daft.ie, the group is confident of its move into the Northern Ireland market.

About Mark Pollock
In 1998, Mark was a student and international rower with a fantastic job offer in London when he suddenly lost his sight. He had been on the crest of a wave as he prepared for his final exams in Trinity College Dublin, but came crashing back to earth with the news that he would never see again.

Since then Mark has rebuilt his life and, indeed, has exceeded his achievements of before. Within six months of going blind he was working again and, two years later, he completed a Masters Degree in Business Studies. He has won medals while rowing for Northern Ireland at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, completed six marathons in one week in China's Gobi Desert, raced in the world's most extreme marathon at the North Pole, developed an international speaking business and co-authored a book focused on the motivation and life choices of successful people.
