Google partners with Daft for launch of Street View - View the Street from your Seat!
Dublin, 30th September, 2010 - Daft.ie, Ireland's biggest property website, has today announced its partnership with Google for the launch of Street View, an innovative mapping feature that provides panoramic street-level photographs of Irish neighbourhoods and streets. Daft.ie is currently the only property website in Ireland to offer Street View, a feature that will change and enhance the way people search for property online.
For Daft.ie users, Street View allows house hunters to virtually explore and navigate neighbourhoods directly from Daft property description pages. The 360 degree photographs give a feel for a particular area showing each individual property and its surroundings, with the added benefit of being able to view local amenities like shops, schools, dry cleaners and bus stops.
Ciaran Maher, CTO at Daft.ie commented, "We are delighted that Google selected Daft as a partner. Street View mapping is highly innovative and we're always looking for ways to make life easier for our users when they're searching for property to buy or rent. Street View makes the search more meaningful and goes above and beyond descriptions provided by estate agents."
Commenting from Google, John Herlihy, VP Global Ad Operations said, "As of today, Street View is available on all seven continents and has revolutionised maps online. One of the great successes of Street View is how it has improved the ability of house hunters to find their dream home online. We are delighted to partner with Daft.ie for the launch in Ireland and we know that this will also be an excellent resource for Irish home owners who are trying to sell or rent their properties in a difficult market."
The Street View mapping feature went live on Daft.ie today and can be found in the maps section of property description pages. The official launch of Street View took place today with an event in Dublin, hosted by Google and attended by special guest Minister Mary Hanafin.
