A delightful cove beach leading on to Marble Hill Strand nestles at the entrance to the hotel which is ideally positioned for guests to explore the extensive natural amenities, facilities and attractions on offer in North and North West Donegal. Letterkenny the principal town of County Donegal is within 50km whilst Donegal Airport with daily flights to Dublin (flying time 40 mins) is within 25 km. Derry City with its historical walls and City of Derry Airport, also with regular flights to London, Glasgow and Manchester, is within 80 km.
The property comprises of a 71 bedroom hotel which has been constructed in various stages since the original building in 1920.
It comprises of a mix of 3 and 4 storeys partly over basement building of traditional concrete and block construction. The original building which was built in 1920 comprises of 21 bedrooms all of which are en-suite and are located on the first and second floors. The ground floor of this element comprises of the main reception area; Mc Glades Bar and Bistro; the spacious residents lounge and a large Restaurant. The fully equipped commercial kitchen area and basement storage is also located in this section.
To the east of the main block is the first extension, which was built in the late 1960's and comprises of 28 en-suite bedrooms laid out over 3 floors.
All the rooms have en-suites; tea and coffee facilities; fridge; television; phone and European sockets. The third section which is laid out over the leisure centre was built in 1983 and comprises of 18 superior rooms over 2 floors. An additional 4 suites were added to this area in 2004. All of these rooms offer spacious accommodation with large en-suites; television; safe; fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
All the bed rooms in these extensions are designed with the corridors to the rear allowing panoramic sea views.
Also located in this wing is the leisure centre and gym area which is located on the ground floor. This includes a 17.5m indoor pool with Jacuzzi; children's pool; whirl pool; sauna; steam room and male and female changing areas.
The glazed gym area is located at the entrance to the pool and is equipped with a mix of cardio equipment & free weights.
The relaxation spa, laid out over 3 floors, was added to the property in 2005 and is of modern construction with a mix of rendered plaster and cut stone façade. The Spa with panoramic picture windows overlooking Sheephaven Bay provides a superbly equipped facility boasting a vitality pool; foot spa area; relaxation lounges; out door Canadian hot tub; herbel sauna; salt grotto; atlantis royal balneotherapy bath; 7 individual treatment rooms, male and female shower and changing facilities.
Outside there is an extensive guest car park together with spacious paved terrace and gazebo area offering a secluded outdoor dining and beverage facility taking advantage of the delightful Sheephaven Bay aspect and views. The children's activity centre comprises of a storey and a half building with traditional cut stone and slate roof. Accommodation includes a large play area on the ground floor and table tennis; fussball and pool tables on the upper floor. External to this is a large children's play area; secure grass play area; hard surface tennis court, basketball court and 9 hole pitch & putt golf course all of which completes the overall site extending to 3.57 hectares (8.81 acres) approx.
