The Welsh Highland Steam Railway passes close by; from Beddgelert Station you can make a journey to either Porthmadog or Caernarfon. Porthmadog is home to the sandy beach at Black Rock Sands and a short distance away is Rhyd Ddu, starting point of a footpath up Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
