The area is renowned for scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and there are many safe beaches for children and boat trips to the islands off the coast are available on request.

Golf Links: Possibly the most challenging 18 hole championship links golf course in Ireland, Carne is open to non-members, and visitors are most welcome. This uniquw course offers the unexpected twist-tatics change from the sheltered hollows to the hills and slopes, and all with a magnificent backdrop of sea, sky and mountains. There is a 9 hole at Binghamstown on the peninsula, and a fine 9 hole pitch and putt course at Belmullet.

Sea Angling/Shore fishing: Belmullet has taken its place among the leading names in sea angling centres in Europe. The club was founded in 1964, its objective to promote sea and angling as a sport for seas anglers and to provide an information service. Shore fishing is particulary good all year round the area, both on the Atlantic coast and inner coastline of Blacksod and Broadhaven Bays.
