"Rosshill Lodge" is located in Joyce's Country in the Barony of Ross, which begins at the land between the two lakes on the direct route to Connemara from the East. Adjacent to Lough Mask, it is accessed via a small road off the Clonbur to Finney road, which extends a few hundred yards further to Rosshill Bay, where there is a landing stage for direct access to the Mask fishing grounds. The Lodge was formerly the Coach House, Stables and Granary of the Rosshill House, built by Lord Leitrim. The site is bounded on the north by the conifer plantation of Coillte, which extends out on to the Big Island and the White Island Peninsula enclosing Rosshill Bay and for a considerable distance along the lakeshore.
