History and details of Bawn House It is built from limestone, which was sourced locally and appears on the early 1831-1846 Ordnance Survey Maps. Its location which is close to Lough Ree and "The Bawn" makes it likely that, it was originally an overseer cottage belonging to the Dillon Estate. The layout as a farmhouse with two distinct living areas and a milking parlour to the western end have been retained. This has been carried thorough in its present design. The main roof is fully insulated and both living areas benefit from separate bathrooms, Kitchen, central heating and electricity. It has been owned previously by a local family for at least three generations prior to being bought in the late 1970's by its present owners.
