The gravel at the property consists of small to medium sized rounded and sub rounded limestone and sandstone rocks. The sand is a fine to medium coarse and has a very good spread from fine fraction up to medium coarse. As a result, the sand is suitable to a range of uses.
The current range of products produced at the
quarry are: Asphalt Sand, Concrete Sand, Clause 503 Stone, Clause 505 Stone, 4 inch Clean Stone.
Planning Permission
Coolrain Quarry is a registered Quarry under Section 261 of the Planning and Development Act 2000. Planning Reference No. QY05/51.
Operating Hours
Under Planning Reference No. QY05/51, the quarry shall be operated between the hours of 07:00 20:00 Monday to Friday and 07:00 18:00 hours on Saturday.
Discharge Licence
The discharging of trade effluent from onsite settlement lagoons to the River Delour is permitted under licence number ENV2 WP 31.
TENURE
The site is available by way of an assignment of the existing 26 year lease from 2 January 2008.

The property is located towards the west of County Laois, directly north west of the village of Coolrain. The property is accessed from a good quality private access road which adjoins Camross Road. This road meets the R445 approximately 3 miles south of the quarry.
The quarry is bound to the north, east and west by agricultural land. To the south the property is bound by a small wooded area. Land uses in the wider area are predominantly agricultural with sporadic residential development .
