The site is within the curtilage of the development zone for Union Hall and in fact the two homes do not fully occupy the original footprint of the Coastguard cottages, therefore, there is potential to further develop the site. Under the current planning permission the natural slate homes are linked via an archway and incorporate two large living rooms, kitchen / dining room, conservatory, utility room at ground floor level and 4-bedrooms, two with ensuite bathrooms and a main bathroom on the upper floor. Each house has permission for a detached garage. The site is accessed via laneway which leads from the cul de sac road at the pier to this elevated site with magnificent views over the harbour. There is also a pedestrian access from the site to the pier. Full services are available in the village with eateries serving fresh fish on a daily basis from the wonderful fish shop where you can buy fresh lobster, prawns and a wide array of seafood. There is a local shop, post office, national school, playschool and two churches also in the village. Secondary schools are available in Skibbereen, Clonakilty or Bandon while Skibbereen benefits from the first rural digital hub, beneficial to all business in the area. There is a wide variety of eateries, bars and coffee shops, all serving up local fresh produce many with al fresco dining opportunities overlooking the natural lagoon on which the village sits. Safe mooring are available off Union Hall pier. Across the bay you will find Glandore Harbour Yacht Club home to a fleet of Dragon sailing boats as well as many other yacht types. Myross Rowing Club is located up river from Union Hall and the local GAA club is Castlehaven near Castletownshend. Beaches are plentiful in the immediate area with Squince and Carrigillihy Bay Beach and not forgetting the sandy beach next to the pier, perfect for a swim on the high tide. Kayaking is a very popular sport in the harbour all the way to Leap at the northern end of the harbour and 4km away at Reen Pier you can kayak in the beautiful, sheltered waters of Casltetownshend. Also within easy driving distance are the wonderful villages of Baltimore, Rosscarbery and Glandore, all offering a big West Cork welcome and some larger beaches at Ownahincha and Warren Beach.
