This historical coastguard station is situated by the beach at the tip of the Mullet peninsula, just before Blacksod lighthouse. This cottage has been refurbished recently but still maintains all the old features of the coastguard station which was built in 1864. All the wooden floors, doors and fireplaces have been carefully restored to their original beauty. It has amazing views which stretch out accross blacksod bay and the surrounding islands of Achill, Inishkea, Duvillain and Blackrock. It is the perfect place to escape from it all. Take a swim in the crystal clear waters of Blacksod bay or in one of the many blue flag beaches that surround the penninsula. Relax in the evening by an open fire or walk to the nearby pub Unas which is situated 100 yards from the house. Explore the beautiful windswept beaches or take a trip from Blacksod pier to the uninhabited islands of Inishkea. The cottage consists of two double rooms and also a room containing bunkbeds. All bed linen and electric blankets are provided.The kitchen is fully equiped with gas cooker, microwave, nespresso machine and airfryer. There is also a washing machine and dryer located in the shed. Private off road parking is provided as well as a backgarden with garden furniture. The sitting room has a cosy open fire with a back boiler which is the main source of heating in the house. Things to do: There are many wonderful activities on your doorstep. Step back in time with a guided tour of Blacksod lighthouse. Take a trip out to the islands from the pier or book a sea angling trip. Fish can be purchased daily from the local fishermen as they arrive into Blacksod pier. Plenty of choice of fresh lobster, crabclaws and fish depending on the day. Surf lessons/ camp can be booked through Tonn Nua surf school which is located on Glais beach which is a 5 minute drive. Uisce Water sports is located within 5 minutes of the property. Carne golf course is an award winning links course and is located 10 minutes from Blacksod. There are various amazing walks and trails you can partake in such as Erris Loop walk, Cearth Thaidgh and Cross beach to name but a few. This is an amazing choice for anyone willing to observe the spectacular, scenic views of this area on the Wild Atlantic Way.
