One of the best local beaches is Magheroarty (5.5 miles), where you can also hop on a ferry to the Tory Island or pick up a coastal trail through sand dunes. For a change of scenery, venture inland to the Glenveagh National Park (20 miles) to explore a landscape of mountains, lakes, waterfalls and woodland, and visit the Victorian castle and gardens.
