The perfect location from which to explore West Cork. Breathtakingly fresh sea air, stunning sandy beaches, comfortable beds & roaring fires. Magnificent views of the sea and spectacular walks surround the property on every side. Dunworley is thrillingly remote but only 20 mins from the bustling musical town of Clonakilty. There is very good internet throughout the house. Catering Options West cork is famously foodie, no holiday here is complete without sampling the delicious local produce, and you don’t have to even leave the premises! If your perfect holiday includes a break from the skillet then try out our very popular farm-to-fork catering. Gilly’s strong focus on seasonality, sustainability and flavour dictate her ever-changing, scrumptious menus. All fruit and vegetables are from our garden. All produce is ethically sourced ethically from local producers.  Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner are all available… All served in the comfort of the large  Conservatory  dininig room. Vegan, Vegetarian, Coeliac? All allergies & dietary requirements can be catered for.  Neighbourhood description This thrillingly remote retreat offers all the bonuses of an ‘off-grid hideaway’ but the very good internet is ideal for ‘working from home’. It is within easy reach of a range of West Cork’s vibrant, bustling towns and villages, from musical Clonakilty to historic Kinsale and beyond… Dunworley Bay sits on a rugged and enchanting stretch of Atlantic coast known as the Seven Heads. So if you love long, beautiful walks along headlands, exploring ring forts and watch towers or climbing along rocky coastline discovering untouched coves and beaches- this is heaven! The area offers a range of activities from cycling, to riding and all kinds of water sports. We love surfing, kayaking, rock jumping, swimming and body-boarding at Dunworley Beach- all year round and there is a mobile sauna at weekends. The sands are washed clean by the lovely unpolluted sea every day, the air is fresh, and we get no light pollution… so you can enjoy undisturbed views of the incredible canopy of stars on night time wanders. Clean, unpolluted sea & air means on clear, dark nights in July, August & September, bioluminescent plankton light up the waves like bursts of fireworks. Phosphorescence! Friends you might meet along your way include seals, sea otters, dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks and sometimes even whales! If you would like to adventure away from Dunworley, there is no shortage of things to do… West Cork is renowned for its artisan food and there are scores of fantastic, award winning, restaurants nearby, some of the best of them are within a 10-20 minute drive. We have four Michelin starred restaurants in the local area. We are within easy reach of many of Cork’s famed golf courses such as the internationally renowned ‘Old Head of Kinsale’. If you like horses, you can go to the races or can hire ponies to trek along the beaches.   Courtmacsherry, for deep-sea fishing and whale watching trips, kayaking, paddle boarding , sailing and  surfing (courses available) The lovely Blarney castle is only an hour away, where you can kiss the stone and be blessed with the gift of the gab, or just wander in the beautiful grounds and have tea in the cafe. Ancient Drombeg stone circle (3000 BC.) is 45 minutes away, pre-dating Stonehenge it’s well worth checking out! For anyone with an interest in gardening, Bantry House and Gardens and Garnish Island (designed by Richard’s Great Uncle) are beautifully landscaped and not to be missed. West Cork has gained a reputation internationally for its friendly people, relaxed attitude, charming villages, fantastic restaurants, pubs, and live music venues. For those with an interest in the history of Ireland’s most beloved drink, Middleton distillery (set up by Richard’s ancestors) is within striking distance, where you can sample whiskey to your heart’s content! Reviews  As we are new to this platform below are some reviews from other platforms last year. September 23  We had a marvellous time in Dunworley, beyond our expectation which were already high! The house is furnished in such a comfortable and cozy way and is surrounded by the Irish countryside with a stunning view on the sea, Gilly and Richard are wonderful hosts, and have been very helpful supplying us with precious suggestions and information, and always kindly available for any help. The cherry on top of the cake is the vegetable garden from which Gilly brought us the best vegetables and herbs we have ever tasted. I would recommend this wonderful place to everybody! Sylvia August 23 The Dunworley house exceeded every expectation of our family of 10. From the space (great bedrooms, chef’s kitchen, formal and informal living rooms, an exceptional dining room), to the surroundings (incredible beach a short walk away, the most beautiful countryside on earth, the property and yard itself, the wildflowers, the gardens), to our incredible hosts, Gilly and Richard, and their family who welcomed us as if we were old friends or extended family. They provided us with great recommendations, allowing us to take advantage of everything the area has to offer. They would also drop off fresh veggies from the garden, eggs from their chickens, beach supplies for the kids, which was so sweet and welcomed. It was an all-around outstanding experience and we would highly recommend this home as a place to stay. Nate August 23 We had a wonderful time at this lovely home with during our family gathering with 8 adults, 3 kids and 2 baby's. The location and views from this house are special, and with Courtmacsherry for walks and whale watching, and Clonakilty for pubs and groceries not far away it all worked well. Gilly also cooked us a great dinner, highly recommend! Jeremy July 23 Beautiful house in a tranquil setting. Comfy beds and very spacious bedrooms. The kids loved the games in the garden and the adults loved relaxing in the sitting room in the evening! The host Gilly made us feel very welcome. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
