The town sits on the banks of the River Slaney, offering tranquil walking opportunities, and is also overlooked by Vinegar Hill (a climb to the top of the hill offers spectacular views). You can learn all about the Battle of Vinegar Hill at the National 1798 Rebellion Centre in the town. History enthusiasts will also enjoy a visit to the 13th-century castle. You'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches, with Curracloe, Courtown, and Ballymoney all within 25 miles.
