In 1991, Michael O'Donovan established his Estate Agency practice on the Main Street in Mallow. In May 2000 he joined Sherry FitzGerald Countrywide, since then Sherry FitzGerald O'Donovan has continued to expand by opening offices in Midleton & Carrigaline.

In March 2008, Sherry FitzGerald O’Donovan opened its fourth office in Fermoy, taking over long established Sherry FitzGerald O’Driscoll (formerly known as Paul O’Driscoll & Co) This office is now managed by Michael O’Donovan Jnr.
