Young University
Founded in 1975 and elevated to university status in 1989, DCU is one of Ireland’s youngest universities. Occupying a 72 acre site in Glasnevin. DCU delivers more than 120 programmes to over 10,000 students across its four faculties.
The Helix
DCU is home to Ireland's largest arts centre - The Helix. The venue prides itself on the range of events it stages. From large symposiums and conferences to world-class performances the venue serves audiences both locally and internationally. This multi-purpose venue has over 20 different spaces and rooms including Auditoriums, Conference Rooms, Boardrooms, Exhibition Areas, Green Rooms and Dressing Rooms.
Library
The John and Aileen O'Reilly library is the focal point of the entire campus. The library has over 1,200 seats and 18 collaborative rooms where students can study in groups. There are 400 computer workstations.
Amenities
Sports
Indoor and outdoor facilities are available and there is a 25m swimming pool. Sporting activity as a whole is encouraged through team sports or individual activities such as aerobic fitness, weight-training, rock-climbing and athletics. Highly-skilled specialist sports trainers are always on hand in the Sports Complex to advise on fitness regimes. DCU also has a special advisor for students with disabilities.
Student Life
There are a broad variety of clubs and societies, representing a wide range of interests such as culture, computer games and sport - as well as academic - interests, and numbering more than 100 in total. The Hub is the social centre of student-based activities and services. The student union is based here, as well as other services such as travel shop, bookshop, recreational areas and venues for student events.
Students’ Union
The Students’ Union is run for students by students. It’s the place to go if you have a query or need some extra support, as well as having lots of extra information pertaining to education and welfare.

Train
Maynooth Station to Drumcondra Station via Leixlip, Castleknock, Coolmine and Ashtown areas From Drumcondra train station, you can take the following buses to DCU: 1, 11, 16, 33, 41, 41B, 41C and 44.
Taxi
There are usually an adequate number of taxis in operation in the city centre at any given time. It is possible to hail a taxi from the street, but convenient taxi ranks are located on O'Connell Street, Middle Abbey Street, Dame Street and St Stephens Green.
