Nenagh Town and Environs Development Plan 2013 - 2019
Nenagh (population 7,415 Census 2011) is a busy commercial town, located just off the main M7 motorway, running between Limerick and Dublin. The N52 and N65 also places Nenagh at the corridor to the midlands, serving Tullamore, Athlone and Mullingar. This strategic location has evolved Nenagh as an important market town and a strategic business area.
There are a number of key businesses and facilities in the town including Nenagh Hospital, the Arrabawn Creamery, Carey's glass, Abbey Machinery, Quigleys Bakery, the Civic offices, the Revenue offices and the Court House. Nenagh is the administrative centre for Tipperary County Council.
Nenagh town is also close to the largest lake on the River Shannon - Lough Derg. The town lies to the North of the Silvermines Mountain range and to the East of the Arra Mountains.

Town Centre Zoning:
Policy TC3 Town Centre of The Plan states that: 'it is the policy of the Councils' to strengthen the town centre function of Nenagh as a commercial, cultural and living centre'. Two "Town Centre" Strategic Objectives - number 4 & 5 - include:
- To promote the strategic advantages of Nenagh as a location for investment and employment generation and to identify appropriate lands for industrial, enterprise, office and retail uses.
- To regenerate the Town Centre of Nenagh, to ensure it is a centre which is viable and vibrant by enhancing and promoting retail, business and other service provision.

Drive from Kenyon St or Pearse Street, in the direction of the Borrisokane and Dublin Roads, continuing through the small roundabout (leading from the old Dublin Road), to the Summerhill area.
