Five years later the business moved to a larger premises on Barrack Street. The company went through a period of rapid expansion and opened branches in Athy, Co. Kildare in 1998 and in Tullow, Co. Carlow in November 2000. That same year McDermott Auctioneers began trading as Sherry FitzGerald McDermott under franchise from Sherry FitzGerald Countrywide. It is a family run business with Charlie, his brother James and 8 other people working in the company. The firm has IPAV (Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers) status.
