This prime location offers the perfect balance of privacy yet with the convenience of living in the town providing easy access to the amenities and attractions of Tuam and its surrounds. Prospect House is set amidst mature gardens. This fine five bay residence dates to the early nineteenth century - 1820. Prospect House was previously known as Plunket House and was once Tuam National School. The entrance into Prospect House is from Old Road. The gateway comprises dressed limestone piers with string courses and caps. The 90m tree lined driveway is surrounded by lush mature gardens & native trees. A detached five bay two storey gem awaits. A solid teak front door with brass lion’s head door knocker, original brass doorbell, and attractive coloured glass panels on either side takes you into the porch with original floor. Alternatively relax in front of the fire with marble surround on a winter’s evening. This room is no doubt the focal point of the house. A second reception room, a sitting room with open fire, enjoys a view to the rear garden with mature trees to watch the seasons change. The third reception room is a welcoming dining room, perfect for formal gatherings or intimate dinner parties. The room enjoys two sash windows and an open fire. Opposite the dining room, is a cloakroom with a wash hand basin. The traditional kitchen with period charm has fitted units, solid fuel range and traditional floor and wall tiling. From the kitchen there is a utility area, a boot room and a guest toilet. There is also access from this area to an internal single garage, a storeroom, the rear garden and the basement. Completing this space is a room overlooking the front lawn which would make an ideal office / study. Ascending the stairs to the first floor you can’t help but notice the impressive height of the ceilings and the window placed perfectly on the return. The first floor boasts five bedrooms. The bright master bedroom is complimented by triple aspect sash windows overlooking the front lawn and gardens. The master bedroom has an ensuite with bath and wash hand basin. This ensuite can also be accessed from the hallway. Along the hallway there are four additional double bedrooms.
